Un hilo de voz / A thread of Voice (2025-ongoing)

This project is a thread that traces the textile histories of Latin American working-class women in the borough of Queens, New York. In collaboration with participants of the costureros (sewing circles) "Las Comadres Bordadoras" and "BordeAndo," the project traces a counter cartography of their immigration paths. Needle in hand, stitch by stitch, they delineate how the "here" and the "there" are made and unmade with a thread, a thread of voice.

Un hilo de Voz was first presented in 2025 at the Queens Museum with textiles by Bordeando and Las Comadres Bordadoras.
